Renowned singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, has taken legal action against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade, in order to seek joint custody of their daughter.
The lawsuit was filed by Davido’s legal representatives, Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others, at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024. Davido has requested the court to grant him unrestricted access to Miss Imade.
The lawsuit, identified as LD/1587PMC/2024, was filed by Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke with Ms. Sophia Momodu listed as the sole respondent.
Davido stated that he has consistently fulfilled his financial obligations towards their child’s welfare and has consistently covered the expenses for Imade’s education.
He mentioned that he has been paying for all of Imade’s school fees and also covering the rent for the apartment where Sophia Momodu and their daughter live.
He claimed that despite his efforts, Sophia has been making unreasonable demands that appear to be intended to harass and frustrate him.
He stated that she refused his offer to provide a luxurious apartment worth N200 million in a gated community on Victoria Island, Lagos, but instead insisted that he continue paying N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as his contribution towards their daughter’s accommodation.
Davido mentioned that he purchased a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle to adequately cater to Imade’s needs. This vehicle will be utilized for transporting the child and the respondent, ensuring safe transportation to and from school, among other needs.
