“I am announcing my retirement from music” – Kanye West

Kanye westAmerican rapper Kanye West has announced his retirement from the music industry. He expressed uncertainty about his future plans during a recent conversation with Rich The Kid. Rich The Kid shared a screenshot of their chat on his Instagram story on Tuesday. In the screenshot, Kanye West wrote, “I am retiring from professional music. Not sure what else to do.”

In an attempt to convince him to abandon his plans, Rich The Kid wrote, “Retire? Why? How? The people need you. The music you, TY [Dollar $ign], and we have created has had the greatest impact on culture to date in 2024. Release Ye about mine & V2 and we start over again. The younger generation needs you, big brother. Maybe take some time to relax in fashion, but retiring is not the answer.” He did not disclose whether West agreed with his advice or not.

After leaving college, he began his music career as a producer in Chicago. He rose to fame by co-producing Jay-Z’s album ‘The Blueprint’ in 2001 and was subsequently signed as an in-house producer for Roc-A-Fella Records. In 2004, he released his debut album, ‘The College Dropout,’ which received critical acclaim and included the number one single ‘Slow Jamz’ on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

He later became tied with Jay-Z as the hip-hop artist with the most Grammy awards in history, each receiving 24 golden gramophones.
