She spoke during an interview with American radio station Hot 97. She said she was traumatized by the release and by public blame. She said people with large platforms also blamed her.

She said “I was bashed for that video. A lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy.” She added that critics ignored her as a victim. She said if she had attempted it for attention, she would have done better production.
Tiwa revealed the video leaked after a blackmailer reached out. She refused to pay. She said losing her father around the same time made the period darker. Public reaction included shame and blame. She suffered emotionally.
She said one coping method was to refuse dwelling on the leak. She described staying silent, focusing on healing, and reclaiming her narrative. She also said the interview was a blessing because it allowed her to speak freely.
